If you like the small block Chevrolet, this book is great for building stock, warm or really hot motors. Technical information, graphs, specs. and lots of photos. I have 4 different books for this 283 project . . . and I keep referring to this book most often.
What are you running in the way of carb, cam, and pistons for that 283?
ReplyDeleteEdelbrock 500 w/electric choke, 327/300hp manifold, Duntov 097 solids, forged flat top TRWs, small tube 1 5/8 headers, Cloyes chain, ported/matched, 5 way valve job - it should have a bit of torque and still like a little high rpm . . . maybe an electronic ignition that resembles a stock distributor??
ReplyDeleteShould sound great with that old Duntov cam. What kind of compression ratio will you get with flat tops?
ReplyDeleteHopefully 9:1 with .015 shim head gasket. Probably more like 8:1, I'm not cc'n it, ain't that smart, and it makes a mess.
