It was already light enough for 200+
(unless maybe these aren't the actual forks?)

    Hey Nathan here. I have studied this bike closely and have saw pictures with the earlier forks with the arrows at the bottom for fender mounts as well.. I'm sure he ran all kinds of forks but with the spool why leave a quarter pound of metal...
