Pre - Panifold

Back in the day . . . Noot's Custom Cycles made these things that bolted from the backside of the intake (tapped 1/4-20) and sealed with a bit of JB or high-heat sealer.  It was an aluminum air plenum, atomizer . . . that helped with flow on the panhead manifolds.  Improved off idle torque and response.

Short Stroke 45" (750cc)

This thing revs like a banshee.  Grab a handful of throttle and it's like a light-switch - bam. I need a tach to see what I'm really turning, but it seems like a lot - and it happens faster then a Sportster stock stroke.

UPDATE: This thing was popping out the carb (remember previous post?).  I found the problem to possibly be the magneto gear had moved slightly on the tapered shaft, magneto rotor.  It kept changing my ignition timing (maybe on initial start-ups?) There is no key-way.  I just lapped the taper (new gear with new rotor) and was careful not to over-tighten the nut securing the gear, but it kept moving a bit. (and yes, the gear does extend just past the end of the taper) I used a dot of Loctite 630 on the taper this time, Loctite red on the nut.   Thanks to Carl Patrick, Dennis Schoenfeldt and Mert Lawwill for tech info, etc.  Now, me and Girdler could go riding around ?  That would be fun !

Multiple simultaneous drill fixture.  An educated guess . . . Fixture appears to locate off the countershaft hole and the plate guides the drills (or taps also?) for the transmission top threaded holes (1/4-20 uss thread)  Drills them all at the same time, same distance, same depth.  You wonder what happened to all those unique machines the factory utilized for years and years???  Probably broken down and sold for scrap.

XR Project

(Dad starts the XR) Ready for fire roads, gravel or maybe a vintage short track, scrambles or TT . . .  if I'm brave enough?  I got leathers, tear-offs . . . and soon can run the 50 Over class !  What am I waitin' for ?

More Sturgis 75th . . .

I got like 275+ photos . . . Really great year at Sturgis 75th !
I couldn't believe all the events going on in one place . . .
Just couldn't do it all . . .

I really like what Brawny, Thor & everyone is doin'
with those new 750s . . .

Show Pan for the Ages

Lots & lots of handmade parts.  Many hours of thinking and planning.  Carbon in the pipe suggests it runs down the road . . . Crazy cool build.  Awesome.  It must have some heavy-duty, reinforced rocker covers?  A special cam(changed pinion shaft?) and gear to run all that?  Hmmmm? . . Or only one actually works?  Thinking as I was looking . . .

See See Motorcycles - CC Flat Track IRONMAN !

This guy Thor(white jump suit) totally blew minds when you found out he built this new Harley-Davidson Street 750 into a full-out street legal flat track bike (see the LED headlight?) . . . . then packed it with gear and rode the bike over 1000+ miles from the NE to race it . . . then ride it all the way home.  He finished a solid 4th (just off the podium) and in-my-book he wins both the Ironman Award - AND the Best Sounding Award (it sounded exactly like an aluminum XR750 @7500rpm)  He measured XR exhaust lengths, and fabbed his exhaust pipes accordingly.  If you've been wondering about Harley's new 750 . . . I'm here to say, they are the real deal - and I hope we can meet again - A totally gnarly nice dude.
