Lookin' for Tator . . . ?

Went to the shop, Spider came over . . . " Hey Spider, where's Tator?"  Maybe he's at the clubhouse?  Went to the clubhouse.  "Tator's home sleepin' . . . want me to call him?"  Naw, just tell him Noot stopped.  Have a good day - stop back on the way home . . .

Beep Beep yer Ass

There is no way you'll ever pass this guy, unless he runs outta race gas . . . 145 cu. in, dual S&Ssssss?  Eeeee Gaaaads !  Need some Acme Products.

Jackpine Gypsies M/C

Alva

The guy I've stayed with (last 12 years) grew up in Sturgis and knows everything about the place.  He raced with the Jackpine Gypsies back-in-the-day . . . and recently told me a story about the time John Penton showed up.  The off road, enduro event started down low and worked it's way to higher and higher elevations.  Penton started off strong, but his jetting was miscalculated for the thin air at upper altitude.  So, Alva went streaking right by . . . The locals are always strong on their "home track."  I've seen many professional riders get their asses smoked by the local Jackpine Gypsies.  ( He got out his photo album and I liked this photo of Alva at the hillclimb on his DT )

Rare Ticket

Innovations & Ideas

Even though I don't always agree with this type of stuff . . . it can make me feel like a total failure.  That AMD Show is always interesting.  Hours and hours, months and years to achieve these results.  Not to mention the costs to ship everything over here. Warning: Be ready zooming in on these . . .
( I really dig Kraus' motorcycles )

French Connection

This thing blew my mind.  I really liked it.  Couldn't figure out how to shift it?  Hope it got some type of recognition . . . It was so tiny and compact.

Bryan Fuller

He ripped out after Decker's deal.

Gloria Struck

I got the pleasure to meet Gloria Struck (a Motor Maid of 54+ years) and Cris Simmons (the only woman to compete in the recent 1919 Cannonball).  We kept asking Gloria about her adventures in motorcycling - and the stories kept coming.  Quite a lady.  They inducted her into the hall of fame this year.  Cris is way cool too.  She rode a 1915 Harley in the event.  My sista Bets got 65mph on her Sporty this year (that is until I secretly change the main jet and raise the needle)

It's worth the Tripp . . .

. . . to the Tripp Bar in Tripp, SD.  If he ain't seen you for awhile - he'll give ya a FREE DRINK TICKET for the next time.  The best pizza I've ever had.  Hint: Order the "To Go" pizza - and have 'em cook it for you.  The owner is from Cali . . . but, he got sick of it - so he bought this place and moved out here with the rest of us yahoos.  Not a bad place to be.

In the flesh . . .

I'd seen it in books, magazines, on blogs, websites . . . etc.  But, hey - here it is - in person.  Fuckin' aye - it's Dave's Panhead.  Really neat.  Has that aura about it.  Don't get too close.  Keeps your eyes moving for more and more discoveries.  Functional AND Custom.  One-of-a-Kind.  I've met the man - and now the machine.  Not bad Dave.  Now I have to buy the shirt.  Thanks for sending it to Sturgis. ( I liked the front pipe mount to the relay boss )

Nitro Maniacs

It takes some serious guts to ride a Harley Top Fuel Motorcycle.  Just try to keep it pegged the whole run.  They ran 150mph in the 1/8 at Sturgis Dragway.  My eyes burned.  My heart raced with them.  Wow.

Hillbilly done did Deadwood

Met a Canadian named Hillbilly.  Riders from Canada usually always impress me since they have a limited riding season and still seem to get out there.  His motorcycle was customized, yet functional.  He saw the "Church" sticker on my battery box - and we had something in common.  Nice to meet you Sir - Ride Hard and Ride Safe !
