Rare photo of Mert . . .

Here's Lawwill, on a KR (probably on a TT or short track) due to the front brake - and the fact that it appears he's about to make a right hand turn.  He had the No. 1 plate in "On Any Sunday" and raced an iron XR in that racing season.  The iron bike was probably too heavy for a TT or short track.  The fact is that the KRs still won many races, even after the aluminum XR was introduced.  What racer will spend their money on the new bike - when you ain't beat my old bike yet !
