More Davenport shots . . .
It was a hot one this year at Davenport . . . however it didn't stop Willard from runnin' the dual-engine around the grounds. Great to see Wiley & Co., Rattlecan & Co., Hippy & Co., Matt & Co., Heavy & Co., Geltz, Toby & Steve . . . DA & Cyn (that's her '72 she's wrenchin' on) She picked it up this Summer . . . and it's never been apart - runs like a top ! It was great to hook up again and here what's been goin' on in this world. Hope everyone has a good Fall . . . and see you soon ! -Noot Jr.
Team Hawbaker
Jeff has 3 big wins himself at Davenport. He kinda moved into a new roll the last two seasons by bringin' in some top riders - and giving them the opportunity to run some top-notch equipment. Bake's riders are always smiling at the end of the night . . . since 9 times out of 10, they're on the podium !
Good job fellas - nice to meet ya'll !
Good job fellas - nice to meet ya'll !
Joe Kopp is still fast . . .
As everyone kinda expected - Kopp won. They even started him dead last and he came threw the pack and checked out. He had a fast bike - but, a professional rider is always in a league of their own. There was nothing more for him to achieve - maybe sign some autographs? Joe Kopp has always been first class in my book of racing heros. He's won the dirt TT, short track, 1/2 miles, Miles, cushions and grooves. One of the smartest and most dedicated racers to ever throw their leg over a motorcycle . . . and he did it all from the state of Washington - so, he had to drive for at least for 2 days to get to most of the races. Thanks Joe for showin' up at our Iowa track !
Davenport, Iowa 2013
I see Harlow has "The Seat" now . . .
a famous seat from old-time Vegas chopper days . . .
This Sportster and it's hard-core rider came from Chicago . . . On I-80 . . .
WITH A 20T TRANNY SPROCKET ! Cool !
Joe Kopp racing Davenport 1/2 Mile . . .
Rumor has it, Kopp will ride Gibson's Triumph. I've seen it go.
It's very fast.
Geo Roeder will be there to challenge him . . .
Friday Nite - Under the Lights !
See you in the pits . . .
Party after at the East Bath-House . . .
See celebrities . . . from all the magazines . .!
See Jeremiah ride wheelies and almost hit stuff !
Keyway
That grind is for precise key placement.
It can't go on too far.
I always wondered why they did that . . ?
Born in a small town . . .
Baker Kicker Gearset
High quality stuff . . . and worth the money I've heard. I won the gift certificate from Baker which was given away at the The Horse Magazine Show at Sturgis - and I'd like to thank the folks at Baker Drivetrain for participating and giving away a nice prize ! When all assembled - it kicks smooth and I can't wait to try them out . . . kick after kick after kick . . .
"Everything is Broken . . ."
Everything is Broken - by Bob Dylan
( I prefer the Kenny Wayne Sheperd version )
I'm getting better at refurbishing old pans and knucks !
That song is in my head as I'm workin' away . . . .
Pictured: A previously broken cover - now repaired.
Old Bike Oil Change
I don't run oil filters.
I just change my oil every 2500 miles (or after a long trip).
1. Run your engine to make sure all your oil is pumped back
to the tank.
to the tank.
2. Then drain it. You can disconnect the return to tank
( I take it off the oil cooler because it's convenient )
3. Install drain plug - add 1/2 quart of fresh oil to tank.
( I use some thinner weight oil )
4. Start engine and pump out remaining old oil
until it pumps clear.
5. Refill tank with oil of your choice . . .
5. Refill tank with oil of your choice . . .
6. I add a bit of Marvel Mystery Oil
NOTE: My neighbor gave me about 10 quarts of oil when he moved.
The price was $1.17 a quart when he bought it !
I use it for this purpose . . .
I run H-D 50wt and 60wt in all my engines without a failure.
