Straight 50wt HD Oil. If it's hot and you're on a trip, run 60wt.

A old greybeard told me just any 20-50 oil, car or bike will work in the motor & primary? Is this true?
P.s. been a fan of yer blog fer awhile!! Learning to love ironheads but a couple timed I wanted to fire that bitch out into the middle of the dam river!! But I'm gunna love when I smoke the wolf shirt wearing squares!!!
Wolf Shirts ain't all bad - hey, use Bel Ray 75W in the primary(dry clutch plates) and use HD Sportster Primary Oil (for wet clutch plates)

You ever heard of guys using automatic transmission fluid in the primary???
Yes my old man has a 1998 xlch with a 92" stroker and a Bandit clutch. That is what they recommend. I think you would need fresh clutch plates and use ATF.
That's my favorite Ness bike. I've been thinking about going to the J&p open house and now I'm really torn. Couch surfing is cheep fuel is not. Hummm
